Webb locates an unusually distant radio burst’s host
An 8 October NASA account describes Webb measurements of the host of a fast radio burst first detected in March 2024. The small, actively star-forming galaxy supports a young-magnetar interpretation. Locating the host and measuring its distance narrows the possibilities for the burst’s origin; it does not settle the mechanism. The publication date belongs to the new account, rather than to the original burst detection.
